Road Safety Audits
Road Safety Audits involve normal safety performance examination of an existing or future road or intersection by an independent, specialized team. The team examines and reports on potential road safety issues and identifies opportunities for safety improvements.
If a location has a certain number of accidents, Region 3A will assemble a team to evaluate. The team can include Purdue LTAP, local technical assistance, accounting, engineers, and sometimes law enforcement. Typically, the issues result in solutions that are low cost (such as speed bumps, signage changes), which improve the safety of the area.
